Karin has been working with First Aid of the Soul as part of the core therapeutic team since the beginning, leading, facilitating, and co-creating our self-compassion groups - as well as playing the harp for our workshops and events. Karin decided to work with FAS as soon as she knew that it existed.

Karin is an artist, author, Psychologist, and Expressive Arts Therapist and holds degrees from the United States and Denmark. She has authored several academic textbook chapters on her approach to expressive arts therapy, Creative Mindfulness, and she also created a new arts- and nature therapy-based deck, The Art of Self-Healing Cards. Based on almost 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist, She has developed an integrative program for working with trauma through expressive and creative arts therapies.

Trained as an Expressive Arts Therapist at CIIS in San Francisco and previously licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Karin completed numerous psychotherapeutic trainings and courses including, in Dance Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Trauma Sensitive Heart Math.

While Karin's family background is international, she grew up and is now based in Copenhagen, Denmark. In her psychotherapy practice in Copenhagen and internationally online, Karin works with individuals, couples, groups, families, adults, youth, and children. She teaches and trains creative therapists at various art therapy institutes as well as her own. Karin is passionate about helping sensitive and creative people recover from trauma and find their strength, voice, and life’s work in a world that needs them.
